Classic wrought iron scroll design with a modern telecommunications solution
RH Iron was able to blend classic wrought iron design with a modern approach to the automation technology used in this project. On our first visit to the site, the client explained how much he loved his Ring Doorbell. He showed us video he had captured on it and explained that it was easy to use and extremely handy. Little did we know that we would be incorporating that same bit of technology in the automation system we would be installing for him.
RH Iron generated a CAD design for the entry gates and presented it to our client. After some modifications to the design, we fabricated, powder coated and installed the gates and the automation for each of them. Originally, the gates were only going to have keypad entry points but after the installation, the client asked if we could add a video/voice feature. The traditional telecom solution for an automated gate involves either a traditional, old school land line (and all of the expense and headache of digging a trench from the house to the entry point and installing the phone line) or a cellular communication component which requires that the client pay a monthly cellular bill used exclusively for the intercom. When presented with these options, our client asked if we could incorporate the newer, easier to use and more affordable technology of the Ring Doorbell. After researching the idea to ensure that it would work reliably, we were able to meet our client’s request. The project did involve the installation of a component to boost the strength of the client’s home wifi signal so that the device could communnicate
